Professional Preparation and Participation of Culturally Diverse Practitioners in Rehabilitation

About the Presenters

Dr. Madan M. Kundu, a Fulbright Scholar, is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Rehabilitation and Disability Studies at Southern University-Baton Rouge. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Counseling from Michigan State University. He is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor (LRC), and a Fellow of the Nation Rehabilitation Counseling Association (FNRCA). Dr. Kundu, a Fulbright Scholar, has over 40 years of extensive experience in national and international rehabilitation. He was a Consultant to the Regions II, IV, and VI Rehabilitation Cultural Diversity Initiative (RCDI), the National Council on Disability (NCD), and American Indian RRTC (AIRRTC). He serves as a Research Consultant for the RRTC at Howard University, Washington, D.C. He is the project director of NIDRR funded DRRP entitled the Rehabilitation Research Institute for Underrepresented Populations (RRIUP). Currently, he is the North American Chair for Work and Employment Commission of the Rehabilitation International and Board Member of the U.S. International Council on Disability.

Dr. Alo Dutta is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Rehabilitation and Disability Studies at Southern University-Baton Rouge. She received an MA in Rehabilitation Counseling from Southern University and Ph.D. in Community Health with a specialization in Rehabilitation from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a CRC. She was a consultant for the National Council on Disability and American Indian RRTC.  She served as the Coordinator of Research at the RRTC for Access to Rehabilitation and Empowerment Opportunities at Howard University, Washington, D.C. She is the Principal Investigator of the NIDRR funded DRRP entitled the Rehabilitation Research Institute for Underrepresented Populations.
