All About Accessible Parking & Compliance

Abstract

What is the number one complaint people with disabilities have about the built environment? What is at the heart of many lawsuits brought by private individuals and disability advocacy organizations, and enforcement activities of the US Department of Justice? What is a common discrimination complaint of employees with disabilities? What is the primary subject of complaints that residents of apartments, and condominium complexes most commonly make? The answer to all of the above is PARKING!

There are some very specific legal requirements under a few federal ,and many state laws that dictate how much accessible parking must be provided, where, and how it must be designed. This Web cast will focus on solutions to accessible and compliant parking for employers, employees, civic planners, commercial facility managers, residential facility managers, parking providers, and those who have responsibility in organizing parking for temporary events. Potential participants are strongly encouraged to send in their parking-related images and questions to the Southwest ADA Center at swdbtac@ilru.org with PARKING WEB CAST in the subject line, in advance of the web cast.
