The tools were initially created to inform federal staff at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In an effort to increase collaboration and share promising practices, the HHS Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation has made these tools available for both public and private partners.

Up to one in four adults in the United States have a disability and many participate in an array of federal programs. As federal agencies seek to center equity in the design, implementation, and communication of their projects and evaluations, they have recognized the importance of engaging people with lived experience, including those with disabilities.

The Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative is distributing funding to community-based organizations, including Centers for Independent Living, to help perform various vaccination promotion activities. CILs can receive funding to host community vaccine clinics, provide in-home vaccinations, provide transportation to vaccination sites, and conduct outreach and education to older adults and people with disabilities, among other activities.

The Biden-Harris Administration is announcing new tools to lower prescription drug costs for low-income people with Medicare through the Extra Help program, which provides eligible seniors and disabled people with help paying for their Medicare Part D premiums and cost-sharing. These resources complement forthcoming expansions in Extra Help benefits and will ensure more people eligible for benefits are enrolled in this vital program.
