ACL Awards Five Advanced Rehabilitation Research Training Program Grant

ACL's National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) is announcing five 2024 Advanced Rehabilitation Research Training (ARRT) Program grant awards.

The ARRT grants are intended to increase the number of high-quality disability and rehabilitation researchers. Grants are made to institutions of higher education to provide research training to individuals with doctorates or similar advanced degrees. The disability and rehabilitation researchers trained by these grants will improve community living and participation, employment, and health and function outcomes among people with disabilities.

The planned project period for these grants is five years, with an estimated funding amount of up to $200,000 per year for each grantee.

ARRT Grant Recipients

• ARRT on Community Living and Participation, The University of Texas at Austin, Austin, TX: This project will expand the pool of scholars conducting rigorous intellectual and developmental disabilities community living research in racially and ethnically diverse communities through training up to six postdoctoral fellows from diverse backgrounds.
• ARRT on Employment, The Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System, Madison, WI: This project will provide advanced multidisciplinary postdoctoral rehabilitation training in research focused on improving the employment outcomes of persons with disabilities. 
• ARRT on Employment, Yale University, New Haven, CT: This project will establish a national program of excellence for postdoctoral training in recovery-oriented research to advance competitive, integrated employment among persons with psychiatric disabilities. 
• ARRT on Health and Function, New York University Grossman School of Medicine, New York City, NY: This project will increase research capacity by increasing the number of qualified clinician-researchers working in the field of traumatic brain injury rehabilitation.
