The Power of Your SPIL (1.5 Hours)
About the training
The IL-NET National Training & Technical Assistance (T&TA) Center, operated by ILRU in collaboration with NCIL, APRIL, and the University of Montana Rural Institute and RTC: Rural, helps CILs and SILCs to build strong and effective organizations. The presenters focused on the State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL) and the importance of the planning tool in ensuring consumer control of IL programs and services in the state. As people with disabilities, Centers for Independent Living, and State Independent Living Councils prepare for their three-year plan, the training will:
- Ensure understanding of the SPIL, its requirements, and its potential power to elevate the voices of consumers in your state.
- Ensure you understand the stakeholder and public input requirements of the SPIL and have some ideas of how to gain public input.
- Ensure everyone understands the new SPIL instrument and instructions
Target Audience
Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC), and Center for Independent Living (CIL) staffs will benefit from the discussion, along with board members of SILCs and CILs.
