Translation and Dissemination Internships at the American Association on Health and Disability (AAHD)

The American Association on Health and Disability, www.aahd.us, is a national cross-disability 501(c)3 organization committed to ensuring health equity for persons with disabilities through policy, research and dissemination.

Fostering the next generation of disability and health researchers, policy experts, and communicators is part of AAHD’s mission.  Regardless of focus, we strive to bring a challenging, high-quality, and meaningful internship experience to students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Our Translation and Dissemination internship program is designed to provide students with practical training in the science and art of converting research findings into dissemination products (such as Reports, Policy, Research, and Issue Briefs, Infographics, Fact Sheets,  or Social Media) that reach and result in action by different audiences (end users) such as persons with disabilities and disability advocacy organizations, health and public health organizations, health providers, researchers, policy makers and others.

Interns will be introduced to a range of disability and health research findings and a variety of research methods (qualitative, quantitative, and policy research) and provided guidance and mentoring for an internship experience that combines knowledge and theory with practical application. AAHD’s Translation and Dissemination internship program is a unique opportunity to contribute to large-scale knowledge translation (also called Implementation Science) and dissemination efforts on national, state, and local levels. AAHD welcomes applicants from a wide range of academic programs including but not limited to public health, health management and policy, disability studies, public policy, political science, or communications.

This position is virtual. A monthly stipend of $500 is available for the Translation and Dissemination Intern(s).

Please send your resume and indicate your availability to Dr. Charles Drum at cdrum@aahd.us.

We value and prioritize diversity in all forms and strive to create an inclusive environment that welcomes all.
