Laurel Mildred, MSW, is a public policy consultant and serves as the Olmstead Advocacy Director for the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers. She is the former Executive Director of the California Network of Mental Health Clients, the nation's oldest statewide consumer organization. She previously served as the disability policy expert for the California Senate Office of Research. She is the author of the numerous policy reports and papers, including the "Seclusion and Restraints: A Failure, Not a Treatment," and "Eliminating Stigma and Discrimination Against Persons with Mental Health Disabilities."
