Liz Sherwin is Executive Director at Illinois/Iowa Independent Living Center. Liz has been employed by the Illinois-Iowa Center for Independent Living (IICIL) since 1988 and became the Executive Director in 1998. The center is a civil rights and advocacy non-profit corporation that serves people with disabilities in western Illinois and eastern Iowa. She is the president of the Iowa Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) and a facilitator for the Iowa State Association for Independent Living (ISAIL) and a board member of the Illinois Network of Centers for Independent Living (INCIL).
Liz is past president of the Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living (APRIL) and serves as a peer mentor through the IL-NET’s Peer Mentor Program, managed by APRIL. She is past-president of her local NAACP branch and a commissioner on the Bi-State Regional Planning Commission representing her metropolitan area).
